The Fingers and Bows series has been inspired by a desire to help beginner string players to play together.
Book 2 comprises a Warm-up, followed by 6 pieces for Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass with piano accompaniment.
There are first and second parts for Violin, Viola and Violoncello. Parts 1 are played on Open Strings or 1st Finger, but in order that less experienced players can participate in the music making, Parts 2 require only the use of Open strings.
This makes Fingers and Bows ideal for early ensemble playing.
There are also five piano link passages, enabling pieces to be played in combination. This allows musical directors the flexibility to play up to six pieces consecutively so as to suit the capabilities of their players and the demands of a musical programme.
Later books in the series develop the level of challenge as players master more fingers and positions.
